Walking Woman Walked

I did it. I went to the gym and walked on the treadmill.
I intended to go outdoors but I didn’t want to put my leggings on. I thought spring had arrived but alas snow is still here from the weekend.

I’m proud that I have a goal. I read somewhere that attaining a goal is supposed to be hard.

Walking woman has fallen

Start and Finish are the goals

No I have not fallen and hurt myself. Or perhaps I have because not training means that I won’t walk as quickly as I need to in the first marathon on May 12, 2012.
I haven’t walked. I’ve been writing, editing, entering Moving On A Prairie Romance into a contest, writing posts for blogs is my excuse. And not this blog. I am going on a two week blog tour set up by Goddess Fish Promotions. The tour begins on April 30-May 11.
I haven’t wanted to share that I’ve allowed the snow and cold as well as work to keep me from the trails but it has.
I just cannot go to the treadmill in the gym instead of walking outside.

I did a Google search: Training to Walk a Marathon
I don’t have enough weeks left to follow a 19 week plan for a 42 km or 26.2 mile marathon. I need a new plan for my 5 km walk.
Walk and walk some more is a good plan.

Even though I didn’t post I did walk

Royal Regina Race 2011

Yesterday even though I was going to read in the evening I did go out for a walk to the Shopper’s Drug Mart. I discovered that there and back especially if I go through Victoria Park it is about one mile, according to my walking fit tape and my watch pedometer.

Today, I walked to Extra Foods on Broadway and there and back is two miles according to my walking music and my pedometer. So 1 mile = 1.609 kilometers and 2 miles = 3.21 kilometers.
3 miles =4.828 km. So in order to train for my 5 km walk, I need to walk 3.25 miles = 5.23 km.

Hmmm, I had better step up my pace. I have a walking partner who should be home from her winter sojourn and we walk around Wascana Lake which is 4 km. From my front door around the lake is close to 6 km which is 3.75 miles. That is my aim. Last year we did the walk at least 3 times a week.
I believe it is better to train for a longer distance.
Where will I walk to tomorrow?

I Love Regina Run

June 10, 2012 9 a.m.

I am registered for two 5 km marathon walks.

The first The Royal Regina Road Race, http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/depot/rrr-cr/index-eng.htm , http://jaletapacers.com/royal-road-race/ . This is held on Mother’s Day weekend, May 12, 2012. It is a flat track with a 1 km, 5 km, 10 km track. This race is sold out as of March 13, 2012

The second is the I love Regina Run which is held on June 10, 2012 at 9 a.m. There is also a 10 km run, a 5 km run/walk and a 3 km run/walk. http://www.regina.ca/press/initiatives/2012/love-regina/i-love-regina-run/

I need to get back into training. I came down with pneumonia at the end of February and now feel as if I can begin to hit the streets again with my walk fit program playing on my ipod and helping me keep the beat to find my stride.
