You know you’ve been at your desk too long when…

TBR November 3012

I received the first round of edits for Woman of Substance fourteen days ago from my editor at Soul Mate Publishing.http://www.soulmatepublishing.com/
When they arrived, I acknowledged receipt of the email but didn’t open them.
The next day I opened them and read the editor’s instructions.
The next day I circled them like a dog trying to find a comfortable place to begin.
Then the weekend arrived, however I began and enjoyed the process. Finally one week later I was determined to complete the job by this last weekend.
Alas I did not. I grew the book by almost 8,000 more words.
I finally emailed off the edits to the editor tonight because I know I’ve been at my desk too long because the indentations from my computer chair are like craters and I have to really push to move my chair.
I know I’ve been in my chair too long because I have a pile of books that are spread to my left for easy access. I can’t even step around them anymore.
I know I’ve been at my desk too long because I need clean clothes.
I’ve lost contact with friends.
I need a lightbulb replacement in the overhead fixture.
For the first time in a very long time, I turned off all telephones in my house and my cell phone was turned onto vibrate. I’ve enjoyed the uninterrupted time.
I have turned on FB at night but just to catch up on news.
So tonight I am going to bed, knowing I may have the weekend before the second round of edits appear in my inbox. Then I may not have the luxury of circling, I may just have to jump in and swim.
