My friend Brenda Schmidt

GRID by Brenda Schmidt

You'll pick it up and read it and think about the images that are familiar.

You’ll pick it up and read it and think about the images that are familiar.

I have a friend and she is a poet, painter, nature lover, birdwatcher. We met at writing events through the Saskatchewan Writers’ Guild and spent time together at St. Peter’s Severin Hall in Muenster, Saskatchewan at Saskatchewan Writers and Artists Retreats.

This is part of one of her poems which is perfect for this April, 2013 when we are still coping with the casualties of snow in Saskatchewan.

WHITEOUT

Dying for an end to this
howling wind, zero visibility.

Where the earth and sky might meet
it’s white as toilet paper,

the horizon wiped out.
We’re not going anywhere.

Check road conditions, road
closures, listen to the news.
. . .

For the rest of this wonderful poem to which we can relate on the many levels of the language of poetry you will have to purchase, borrow or perhaps check out her blog at: http://birdschmidt.blogspot.ca/
Email her from her blog, she may just provide you with the ending.

Brenda’s book, Grid is short listed for a Saskatchewan Book Award in poetry. The awards are on April 27, 2013. There are tickets available. http://www.bookawards.sk.ca/awards-gala.php

I’ll be there.

Season’s Greetings and thank you to readers, blog and contest participants and reviewers.

First Born Novel

First Born Novel

Season’s Greetings and thank you so very much.

What a wonderful twelve months this has been for my writing career. On December 24th, 2011, Moving On, A Prairie Romance http://www.amazon.com/Moving-On-Prairie-Romance-ebook/dp/B006SHAWES was published by XoXo Publishing(TM)http://www.xoxopublishing.com/Products/=”. I hired Goddess Fish Promotions http://www.goddessfish.com/ and went on blog tours and review only tours. I found ways to have print and virtual advertising as well has read to an audience while climbing the steep virtual promotion learning curve. It is hard to transfer from the concrete world of print to the electronic published world.
I entered Moving On into contests. Did not win. I entered Moving On into the Saskatchewan Book Awards http://www.bookawards.sk.ca/index.php. The short list will be announced on February 14, 2013.

A short short story, Christmas Wishes http://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Wishes-ebook/dp/B00A6GGJY4/ was released by XoXo Publishing on November 6, 2012. I enjoy having this short little slice of an adult Christmas available to readers.

The new kid on the block.

The new kid on the block.

Again I am on the learning curve of trying to discover what will work best to have readers find my work in the millions of books available.

I look forward to connecting with friends and readers and readers who become friends in 2013.
